OSRS TzHaar Fight Cave Guide: Tips,Gear, and Strategy for Defeating Jad
The TzHaar Fight Cave in Old School RuneScape is one of the game most iconic PvM challenges. Featuring 63 increasingly difficult waves of enemies and culminating in a fierce battle with TzTok-Jad, the Fight Cave is a true test of endurance, strategy, and reflexes. While there are no formal requirements to enter, players will significantly improve their chances of success by coming prepared.
The Fight Cave is a solo, instanced combat encounter made up of 63 consecutive waves of TzHaar creatures. These waves include a mix of melee, ranged, and magic-based enemies, forcing players to adapt quickly and efficiently. Surviving all waves leads to a one-on-one showdown with TzTok-Jad, one of the deadliest bosses in OSRS.
While technically possible at low levels, completing the Fight Cave without the proper setup is extremely difficult. Optimal skill levels, gear, and preparation can turn the tide in your favor.
While you can enter at lower levels, success becomes more realistic with at least level 70 in your primary combat style (Ranged, Magic, or Melee). High Prayer and Hitpoints are also helpful for survivability.
Ranged: Most popular and recommended for first-timers.
Magic: Effective for crowd control and self-healing, but requires higher effort.
Melee: Viable but less safe due to close-range combat.
Melee Setup
Weapons: Abyssal Whip, Saradomin Sword
Armor: Torag, Bandos
Shield: Dragonfire or Crystal Shield for tankiness
Ranged Setup (Best for Most Players)
Weapon: Toxic Blowpipe with darts (Rune or better)
Armor: Armadyl, Karil, or Blessed Dragonhide
Extras: Ava device, God Book, or Twisted Buckler
Magic Setup
Spells: Ancient Magicks (Blood spells for healing)
Gear: Ahrim or Mystic gear
Accessories: Occult Necklace, Mage Book
Essential Inventory
Bring a balanced mix of healing, stat-boosting, and utility items to help sustain you across all 63 waves.
Food: Sharks, Saradomin Brews, Karambwans
Potions: Super Restores, Prayer Potions, Ranging/Magic potions
Teleport: Emergency teleport tab or rune combo
Ammo or Runes: Enough to last the entire fight
Each wave introduces different enemy types, forcing you to adjust your approach.
Enemy Priority
Tz-Kih: Drain your prayer on hit. Eliminate quickly.
Tz-Kek: Splits into smaller creatures—be ready for surprise damage.
Tz-Xil: High ranged damage—keep distance or protect from missiles.
Tok-Xil: Dangerous ranged attackers—high priority.
Yt-MejKot: Can heal—try to interrupt healing when possible.
Ket-Zek: Magic-based—use Protect from Magic.
Key Tactics
Control the Field: Use magic or ranged to thin enemies from a distance.
Focus Fire: Eliminate the most dangerous enemies first.
Use Safe Spots: Positioning is everything. Use rocks and corners to trap enemies and heal without taking damage.
Pace Yourself: Don't rush waves—recover prayer and HP between spawns when possible.
Healing and Sustain
Keeping your health high is critical during long encounters.
Blowpipe Users: Benefit from passive healing using special darts.
Magic Users: Blood spells can restore health while dealing damage.
Hybrid Tip: Combine healing food with prayer flicking for better resource management.
Once you've survived the first 62 waves, it's time to face TzTok-Jad, one of the most feared bosses in the game. Jad uses ranged and magic attacks, and you must watch his animations closely to switch protection prayers at the right moment.
Recognizing Attacks
Magic Attack: Jad stands on his hind legs and slams both front feet.
Ranged Attack: Jad quickly leans back and stomps with one front foot.
Switching to the correct protection prayer is the key to surviving this fight. A single mistake can result in instant death.
At half health, Jad summons four healers. Attack each one to draw their aggro, then either finish them off or keep them distracted while continuing to damage Jad.
Successfully defeating TzTok-Jad earns you the Fire Cape, a powerful piece of equipment and a symbol of achievement.
Important Notes
Simultaneous Death: If you and Jad die at the same time, you will not receive the cape.
Wilderness Deaths:
Below level 20: The cape can be repaired.
Above level 20: It will be lost and converted into coins.Fast, secure, reliable – RSgoldfast delivers the OSRS gold you need, when you need it!
